BvB Dallas hosted their 5th annual powder-puff football game benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association earlier this month. Each member plays for their own reason; for Katie Hicks, it is the memory of her grandfather that motivates her.
“I play so that hopefully one day we will have a cure for this awful disease…so that no one else will have to know what it’s like when someone you love can’t remember who you are or the memories you’ve made together.”
Katie personally raised nearly $9,000 in ten weeks, taking the spot as the top fundraiser for Team Brunette.
Although Team Brunette didn’t come out victorious on the football field, everyone won on August 11th when they announced their 2012 BvB Dallas total: $340,000!!! In raising that amount this year, they have now successfully raised more than one million dollars for the Alzheimer’s Association over the last five years – a feat never before accomplished by any other BvB chapter. Way to go BvB Ladies! KWA is proud to have played a small role in your huge success.
